The popularity of the CD is on the rise. In 2021, sales increased 21% to $584 million. Listening to music on physical media such as vinyl records, audio cassettes (yes, even audio cassettes) and CDs is preferred by many music fans.

To support the audio CD format, Denon introduced the DCD-900NE CD player to the Munich Premium Fair 2022.

What the DCD-900NE offers

The DCD-900NE features a rugged anti-vibration chassis and cabinet. The design also serves to visually complement other Denon Hi-Fi components such as the Future PMA-900HNE built-in network streaming amplifier.

With this duo, you can not only enjoy your CD collection, but also stream music from popular services, as well as audio for games and TV.

Point: If streaming is not important, you can also pair the DCD-900NE with the future PMA-1700NE no-frills integrated amplifier.

The DCD-900NE includes Denon AL32 Plus treatment. This feature includes interpolation algorithms, oversampling and bit stretching for more accurate sound reproduction.

CD playback compatibility includes CD/CD-R/CD-RW discs. CDs containing MP3 and WMA files are also playable. HDCD discs are playable, but 4-bit extension access is not provided. SACD playback capability is not included (as specified by Denon).

Point: More details on CDs, HDCDs and SACDs technology.

In addition to CD playback, the DCD-900NE provides a front USB port for connecting a USB memory stick. USB playback supports standard and high-resolution audio digital audio formats, including MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV, FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF (up to 192 kHz/24 bit) and DSD (up to 5.6 MHz).

Analog RCA and Digital Optical/Coaxial audio outputs are also provided, along with wired remote connections for integration with other components or systems.

The DCD-900 includes a Pure live option. If you prefer to listen to your CDs via the analogue audio outputs, selecting Pure Direct turns off the player’s front panel display and renders the optical/coaxial digital audio outputs inactive. The idea is to eliminate any internal interference that could affect the quality of analog audio playback.
