The TASCAM CD-A580 Cassette Recorder/CD Player/USB Flash Drive Recorder

Los Angeles, California – June 2022… TASCAM is pleased to announce the CD-A580 Cassette Recorder/CD Player/USB Flash Drive Recorder, the return of the company’s immensely popular CD-A580. By combining a cassette recorder, CD player and USB flash drive recorder/player in one rack-mountable unit, the CD-A580 makes a terrific tool as a playback device for installed sound applications in addition to being an excellent choice for a single unit capable of supporting three distinct media types.

The CD-A580’s built-in cassette recorder uses one-way logic-based transport control with exceptional stability and longevity. An IC Logic-based transport control is used for the cassette mechanism. This transport was chosen to withstand years of professional use. The cassette mechanism makes it easy to copy content from CD to cassette tape in addition to being able to record content from USB flash drive or line inputs. Transport also includes +/- 10% height control. For playback, Normal (TYPE I), Chrome (TYPE II) and Metal (TYPE IV) tapes are supported. For recording, Normal (TYPE I) and Chrome (TYPE II) cassettes are used.

As a CD player, the CD-A580 supports playback of CDs, CD-R/CD-RW discs and data CDs containing MP3 files. In addition to conventional CD playback, the system also supports repeat, shuffle and program playback.

The CD-A580’s built-in USB flash drive recorder/player is extremely versatile. Users can easily transfer the contents of a tape in MP3 format to a USB flash drive, allowing analog masters to be recorded and archived in digital format. In addition, audio from the CD player and line inputs can be recorded in MP3 format on USB sticks. When material is transferred from CD to flash drive, each track is automatically captured as a separate MP3 file. Recordings from the tape deck or line inputs can be manually split into separate MP3 files. When playing MP3 files, repeat, shuffle and program play are all supported.

In addition to wireless remote control operation, power-on play mode is available. This function is ideal for restaurants, commercial areas, etc. and facilitates unattended playback (or recording) from the moment the power is turned on. To facilitate the use of the CD-A580’s cassette deck, CD player and USB flash drive capabilities, the unit also includes an attractive, easy-to-read LCD display with level indicators, the CD-A580 includes the RC-1329 remote control, plus rack ears and mounting screw kit.

The TASCAM CD-A580 is expected to be available in Q3 2022 and will be referred to as CD-A580 v2 on specific technical documentation as it has been out of production for some time.
