West Orange Police have reported the arrest of the second of two wanted suspects for a brazen armed robbery at a convenience store in September.

According to a statement released by West Orange Police on the 27th of the month, two men entered the Quick Shop (453 Mount Pleasant Avenue) convenience store wearing masks.

Police said one of the people held the store clerk at gunpoint with a handgun while the other withdrew money from the cash register.

The two men fled through the back of the store, police said.

Canvassing West Orange Police detectives in the area revealed witnesses and video surveillance of the actors as well as a gray Nissan Altima fleeing the area.

West Orange Police said a Criminal Investigation Division investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was Mr. Shyhiem Clark, 24, of Newark.

Police learned that Clark had previously been arrested five (5) for burglary, robbery and theft, including a 2016 conviction for armed robbery with a handgun.

Police said the investigation revealed that the second suspect in the armed robbery was Mr. Tyrese Thompson, 22, of Elizabeth.

Authorities confirmed that Thompson had six previous arrests for theft and CDS.

The two individuals were also suspected of participating in a similar armed robbery in Livingston on October 4, 2021.

West Orange Police have alleged that multi-jurisdictional search warrants of Clark’s residence in Newark and Thompson’s residence in Elizabeth uncovered the clothes worn by the actors in the armed robbery.

Police say a data warrant has been obtained to show the exact locations of the actors’ cell phones.

Police charged Clark was indicted on October 8 and Thompson was charged on November 15 with armed robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft by illegal capture, criminal duress, illegal possession of a weapon (handgun) and possession of a weapon for Illegal Purpose (firearm).

The two suspects were also charged by the Livingston Police Department with armed robbery in their jurisdiction and are being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility.
