Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG and IGP) Praveen Sood said the special investigation team is investigating without bias the sordid CD case involving BJP MP Ramesh Jarkiholi. But, he added, the details of the investigation should not be discussed in public.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday after holding a meeting with police, he said the team would submit an investigative report to the court. Later, people could discuss polling strategies.
Referring to the Hunasodu explosion incident that claimed the lives of six people, he said, police are expected to file an indictment related to the case in court soon. There is no question of protecting the guilty and they would be brought to justice.
Regarding the creation of a police station in Shivamogga, the DG & IGP stated, according to the standards, that the city must have a population of ten lakh to have a police station.

The state government would respond to a call, he said.
More than 80% of police officers have been vaccinated against Covid-19. The number of cases is increasing in the state. Police have been tasked with educating people about the need to follow guidelines without fail, he said.
He said Shivamogga police are facing problems with residential neighborhoods and many stations are understaffed. The problems would be resolved soon. Some police stations have been modernized and additional staff have been appointed. Therefore, there should be no public order problem in the district.
Police Commissioner BM Laxmi Prasad, Additional Police Commissioner HT Shekhar were also present on the occasion.
