The Newcastle group’s tour of the disco classic will help raise funds for the Sunderland Pop Recs record store, which was co-owned by the late Frankie & The Heartstrings drummer Dave Harper.
Harper died in August at the age of 43, sparking tributes from The Cribs, Nadine Shah, Tim Burgess and Self Esteem.
Adam Ian Sykes of Pigs explained, âDave was a hero to a lot of people and rightly so, his contributions to music in the Northeast have been enormous. Pop Recs is such an important place for the region and a legacy that needs and deserves a lot of support. “
Lancaster duo The Lovely Eggs provide guest vocals on the cover of ‘Hot Stuff’. “[Theyâre] as the name suggests, âsaid Sykes. âSo easy to work with to start. They were exactly what we needed.
As for their choice of song, the musician explains: âWhen we write we always start with a single riff, it seems to us that ‘Hot Stuff’ life began in the same way. It’s an untouchable song in many ways, but hey, here we are.
You can purchase the song on Bandcamp through its âname your priceâ option. “All the benefits [go] to help raise money for Pop Recs in memory of Dave Harper, âone official description reads.
