Minister of Commerce Goyal opens Meghalayan Age store in capital, sees strong demand for Northeastern products on the global market
New Delhi, 10 Dec. (KNN) Union Minister of Trade and Industry Piyush Goyal today inaugurated the âMeghalayan Ageâ store in New Delhi.
He said the world has yet to see the huge potential of the Northeast and said that mulberry silk from the Meghalaya, in addition to shawls, bamboo, handicrafts and various other unique products from the Northeast, will have a huge market not only for Indian visitors. but also from around the world, says the press release.
Hailing the “minimalist design” of the state’s first exclusive store in the heart of the nation’s capital, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal congratulated Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on setting up the store which will provide local artisans and more of 43,000 weavers in the state a showcase to showcase the rich culture, heritage, art and ethnic products of Meghalaya and the store will support the state’s cottage industry.

Dedicating the rally at the launch of Meghalayan Age store last night to the memory of CDS, General Bipin Rawat, Trade Minister Goyal said he is a true KarmaYogi and passionate about making India great. The store is located at Rajiv Gandhi Handicrafts Bhawan on Baba Kharak Singh Marg near Connaught Place in Delhi.
