This year marks Michael Jackson’s 40th birthday Thriller, best-selling album of all time.
In May, it was announced by the King of Pop’s estate and Sony Music that Policeman 40– a double CD containing a remastered version of the original plus demos and rarities – would be released to commemorate the LP.
Today the new set is officially available for pre-order and a new cover art for the anniversary album has been revealed.
Starting on Labor Day, the titles of the ten bonus tracks will be revealed one by one until the album release date on November 18. 15 additional titles will also be made available as part of a larger digital release.
In addition, vinyls will also arrive to celebrate Thriller‘s 40th anniversary with different retailers, including Walmart and Target, ready to offer other commemorative options. Pop-up events and global activations are also planned.
Earlier this year, the estate announced that a biopic dedicated to the late global superstar is in the works, just as the Tony-winning musical that honors his legacy is set to embark on a national tour.
MJ the musical “celebrates the unique and unrivaled artistry” of the King of Pop which focuses on the making of Jackson’s dangerous 1992 world tour and “goes beyond the star’s singular movements and signature sound, offering a rare look on the creative spirit and the spirit of collaboration that catapulted Jackson to legendary status.
