During an appearance on a recent episode of “Appetite for Distortion” podcast, Mustaine Talk about MEGADETHsongwriting process, especially when it comes to “The sick, the dying… and the dead! ». He said, “Well, there is no set formula for this. It depends. With Kiko and Dagger write music for MEGADETH now, it’s been a breath of fresh air to have songwriting approaches from other band members now that are similar to MEGADETH music instead of getting music that wasn’t MEGADETH the music and having to try to make it work, and it doesn’t.”
He continued: “My thing was to try to have a nice working environment for everyone and to listen to their ideas. But what we’ve done now is we get together and do pre -production, listening to riffs and songs, they just start coming together, kind of LEGO There’s only so many pieces in a song – there’s verses and choruses, there’s pre-choruses and there are bridges, there are middle sections, there is a main section. Usually the main section will be something similar to the chorus or similar to the verse. It could be the verse plus a little something or the verse simplified a bit. I found that, as in ‘Symphony [Of Destruction]’, the main section sounded pretty much like one of the song’s other riffs. So there’s no real way to stack these things together.”
