Boutique audio manufacturer Marantz has lifted the curtain on its new premium CD player, the CD 60. Like all Marantz products, the CD 60 uses the highest quality components and advanced circuitry to deliver their signature high-end sound. iconic range.
With the CD 60, Marantz has addressed the rapidly growing CD market which is following in the footsteps of the resurgence of vinyl. As the company that helped launch the format, Marantz is looking to give CDs a boost with their new drive.
“Marantz was present at the dawn of CD technology with our original player, the CD 63. Today, the CD 60 reminds us why we fell in love with the format 40 years ago – offering more warmth, musicality and detail than any player in its class,” said Joel Sietsema, President of the Marantz brand.
The CD 60 is equipped with the latest HDAMs (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules) which come into play in the analog output stage. They were then optimized for the CD 60, resulting in smoother current flow and lower distortion at high frequencies compared to the original CD 63.
Marantz has also employed a new 24-bit (up to 192kHz/24-bit and DSD 5.6MHz) 24-bit (up to 192kHz/24-bit DSD) reference-class converter that delivers superb clarity across all frequencies. Listeners can choose between two filters, the first providing a soft rolloff while the second provides a sharper cut.
The CD 60 is also compatible with headphones, using the Marantz HDAM-SA2 with gain settings for Low, Mid and High. It can also be turned off completely to eliminate interference when playing the speaker.
The CD 60, like all Marantz products, has visuals comparable to modern art, with a honeycombed front and modern industrial design. Available in black and silver, the Marantz CD 60 is available online and at select authorized retailers with an MSRP of $999 (approximately $1,420.72).
