Krönung Vapors Adds Sci-Fi Themes To Jackson Township Store

JACKSON TWP. – Full of Halloween and sci-fi all year – a local business has made it a theme.

Chad Heck has taken much of his old haunted house show on the road, adding sci-fi pizzazz and a musical motif to his vape shop, Krönung Vapors.

For years, Heck had organized tours of Heck’s haunted house at his estate in Massillon, to the west, in the days leading up to Halloween. The free posting stopped a few years ago due to moving to Jackson.

So, shortly after businesses reopened after the 2020 COVID-19 shutdown, Heck began transporting much of its haunted setting to Krönung, tucked away in Shakertown Square at 5862 Fulton Drive NW.

Krönung Vapors owner Chad Heck has moved much of his old haunted house decor to his Jackson Township vape shop.

“I had to grow and evolve,” Heck, 43, said of the post-pandemic change. “My job is to be unique, fresh and try to (change over time).”

Krönung, which opened in 2015, has a 30-foot-long bar where patrons can relax and sample produce, as well as several LED TVs. The shop also has a living room and a fireplace.

Some of the haunted house props Heck brought to “scare” things in Krönung include an alien statue, skull and crossbones murals, and a laced spider-shaped gumball machine from straps. Items rotate on and off walls and along floor space to keep things cool, Heck said.

Dozens of varieties of vaping products are available from Krönung Vapors in Jackson Township.

Cico Collier, who has been employed at Krönung for about a year, described the store as a pleasant place to work.

“We’re kind of a one-stop-shop here with music, art and vaping,” said Collier, from Malvern. “It’s a bit of everything.”

Krönung: more than just a vape shop

Krönung Vapors, casually called “The Krö” according to Heck, has added inventory to complement its vaping brand, now selling sci-fi memorabilia that includes themes such as Star Wars, Star Trek and Freddy Krueger. Action figures, t-shirts and “off the wall” artwork are related offers for sale.

Chad Heck, owner of Krönung Vapors, discusses changes to his business model post-COVID-19.

“Vaping is good, because (customers) tend to come back,” said Heck, a 1996 Washington High School graduate. “But music, art, and vaping pretty much go together.”

Vinyl records featuring music from the Beatles, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash and more are available at the store. Cassettes, CDs and magazines are also sold.

Other vape shop offerings are hoodies, hats, incense, and jewelry for men and women, much of which is produced by Stark County residents. Heck also sells THC products.

“I like to help local artists and businesses when I can,” he said.
