SHIVAMOGGA: Kanataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chairman DK Shivakumar alleged on Sunday that there was an attempt to trap him in the CD’s sordid affair involving former minister and BJP leader Ramesh Jarkiholi.

Shivakumar told reporters what he told Janaakrosha Pratibhatane here on Saturday, that since the CD’s release there have been attempts to link it to the case. He said he would rise to the challenge as he had done in the past. “The plots against me are not new. There have been several plots in the past as well. I had faced them and I will face them too,” he said.

He dodged questions about the controversy. Asked about the woman allegedly seen in the sleaze CD pleading innocence in a video, Shivakumar said he had yet to see the video. “I’ve read about it in the newspapers. I don’t want to comment when the matter is under investigation. A minister has accused Congress of conspiring,” he said.

Of the woman making the allegations against Jarkiholi, Shivakumar said, “Various agencies are investigating the case. Let them do their job. He urged the government to register a suo motu case regarding the statement by BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, who had spoken of a CD even before the release of CD sleaze.

“Which CD was Yatnal referring to?” Many ministers have applied to the court for a temporary injunction order. Why are the police not investigating these cases, ”he asked.

Useless reaction: former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy

In Mysuru, former CM HD Kumaraswamy claimed that DK Shivakumar himself linked his name to the issue by unnecessarily reacting to it, and demanded a full investigation into the CD affair. He told reporters on Sunday that he did not understand why Shivakumar reacted.

“He’s a mature politician. Did anyone say that DK Shivakumar was behind the CD row? There are a lot of ‘mahanayakas’ in the state, and there is even one in the BJP “said Kumaraswamy.

Commenting on MLA GT Devegowda, which has kept its distance from the JDS, he said the party doors were closed to him. “There is no question of convincing him to come back. He has distanced himself from us. Even if he wishes to come back, we will not allow it,” he said, adding that his father HD Deve Gowda has a little nook for him, but they’ll make him convince him that he needs to be kept away from the party.

No one gets dragged into a case: incumbent KPCC chairman Satish Jarkiholi

In the Belagavi taluk, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Chairman Satish Jarkiholi reacted to Shivakumar’s statement about his involvement in the case, saying, “No one is intentionally dragged” into this case.

“The government handed the matter over to SIT which is able to do its duty. The woman should have made her statement to the police rather than broadcast a video statement. The investigation cannot proceed properly on the basis of statements video, ”he said.
