Habeas corpus case in CD case dismissed
The Dharwad bench of the Karnataka High Court ruled on Monday on a Habeas corpus case filed by the parents of the woman involved in the CD sleaze row.
The Habeas corpus The claim was filed by the father of the woman who is believed to be a victim in the CD row implicating former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi.
The woman’s father appealed to the court to order authorities to locate his daughter because she had disappeared after appearing before the Special Investigation Team (SIT). He said his previous disappearance complaint lodged with the APMC police station in Belagavi did not yield any results.
Admitting the plea, the High Court Bench Division, consisting of Judge Krishna Dixit and Judge Pradeep Singh Yarur, ordered the clerk of the Bengaluru High Court to take steps to produce the woman in court by video conference and ordered published the case for the post-lunch session.
Later that day, the woman appeared in court via video conference and said she would like to stay away from her parents until the investigation into the case is completed. She told the court that she was under no pressure from the police or any influential person, that she was safe and that she would not join her parents until the investigation was completed. Recording his statement, the court dismissed the petition.
