‘Cris Tales’ is next week’s free Epic Games Store title
Next week’s free title on the Epic Games Store will be Cree Talesinspired by classic JRPGs.
Available for free between February 24 and March 3, Cree Tales will replace Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Developed by Dreams Uncorporated and Syck, Cree Tales is described as an “indie love letter to classic JRPGs with a fresh perspective”.
Players can experience the past, present, and future simultaneously, with each time period divided into a third of the screen. Enemies can be warped into the past or future where they will take on different characteristics, which can either benefit or hinder the player.
Cree Tales is inspired by classic titles such as the trigger of a stopwatch and Final Fantasy 6, alongside newer games like Personas 5.
Cree Tales is currently £34.99 on the Epic Games Store, but will be free from February 24.
In the NME review of Cree TalesMatt Kamen gave the game three out of five stars and said that “despite valiant attempts to add to the genre, Cree Tales never quite escapes the weight of its own influences.
“If you don’t have a particular passion for the era, or a desire to let yourself be drawn into a decidedly old-school adventure, Cris Tales’ the charms will probably be lost to you. For the target demographic, this love letter will likely be received with all the affection the developers throw at it.
Cree Tales is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
In other news, CD Projekt Red said that Cyberpunk 2077 will not get a subway system added to the game.
Global Community Manager at CD Projekt Red, Marcin Momot said, “Sorry to be the killer hype, but that’s not it. There are no plans to add the subway to the game.
