Barcelona’s historic record store ‘Music World’ will close its doors next Wednesday, June 8, after more than 30 years.

“Music World” will unfortunately permanently close the shutters of the store because the owners of the premises will not renew their lease, according to 20 Minutos.

“The business is working, but there is no turning back,” lamented one of ‘Music World’ co-owners, Jose Luís Fernandez.

In order to sell as many vinyl records, CDs and DVDs as possible, they have been offering deep discounts of up to 50% for several days. Sales are still here, so there’s still time to grab a bargain.

To celebrate all the years that ‘Music World’ has been delighting its customers, they are having a farewell party to coincide with the closing. It will take place on June 8 in the evening.

At the peak of activity, “Music World” had five establishments in the Catalan capital.

The premises on Calle de Rossells were the first they opened, specializing in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, from which they have music in different formats, both CDs and vinyl records. The company also covers a special section for soundtracks and psychedelic and progressive rock.

Both managers will retire, although Jose Luis Fernandez has explained that he will keep the legacy alive through an existing list of Spotifty “rock legends”, with 400 titles and dozens of subscribers.
